He was predeceased by: his parents, Jock Hardesty and Catherine Hardesty; his wife Ethel Louise Hardesty; his daughter Becky Hardesty; and his brother Tom Hardesty.
He is survived by: his children, Sherman Hardesty, Jr. of Aylett, VA, Kelli George of Mt. Holly, VA and Terry Hardesty of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
