He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ammons and Mary Ammons; his daughter Janet Renee Ammons; his sisters, Barbara Jean Ammons, Jane Carpenter, Lucille Reynolds and Ruth Reed; and his granddaughter Kristina Dunn.

He is survived by: his wife Cora Jeanette Ammons; his sons, Joseph Ammons (Angela) and Jeff Ammons (Susan Knauss); his grandchildren, Justin Ammons (Maria), Jeremy Ammons (Jessica) and Angela Ward; his great grandchildren, Reed Ammons, Lyla Ammons, Dean Ammons, Cora Ammons, Jake Ammons, Hannah Dunn, Anthony Ward and Natalie Ward; and his sister Rose Linville.
