James Joseph Hermosilla Obituary
James "Jim" Joseph Hermosilla, known to his friends as "Spud", 69, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Jim was born on March 30, 1955 in Fairmont, the son of the late Dominick J. and Vivian M. Hays Hermosilla Baxter.
Jim was a Catholic by faith and a proud 1973 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. After high school, he attended the DeVry University in Ohio. Jim was a hard worker and a faithful employee at the legendary Hermosilla Deli in Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Denise Dominique Deakins. Jim is survived by his daughter, Kayla Reynolds and her husband Nathan and their daughter Katelynn of Huntington, two sisters, Cynthia Bonasso and her husband Frank of Fairmont, and Lydia Coleman of Raleigh, NC, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Through modern technology his daughter was able to find her father. They bonded and created a special relationship over the last several years. Jim was a free spirit who enjoyed the outdoors. He liked camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the Marion County Humane Society, 2731 Locust Ave, Fairmont, WV 26554.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 10 am until 4 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 4pm with Deacon David Lester officiating. In accordance with Jim's wishes, cremation services will occur. A private service of committal will be held for the family in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairmont at a later date.
