He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Junior and Gaynell Morris Smedley. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Steel Smedley; his daughter Rhoda Satterfield (John Jr.) of Fairmont; and his brother Richard Smedley of Barrickville.
