It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis Jean Carte of Elkview, West Virginia, born in Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Smith and Rebecca Smith; her sons, Dennis, David and Clarence Carte; and her granddaughter Denise Carte.
She is survived by: her children, Thomas Carte (Barbara) of South Charleston and Linda Birchfield (Scotty) of Elkview; her grandchildren, Renea Woodfell (Rick), Bill Carte (Kim) and Melissa Birchfield; her great grandchildren, Evan Carte, Isaac, Gabe Carte, Samantha Carte and Jason Rusnak; and her great great grandchildren, Abbey, Addison, Aiden and Stormy.
