He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis Melton; his sister Hilda Halsteader; and his son-in-law Mike West. He is survived by: his children, Earl Edmond Melton of Charleston, Jeanie Fae Basford of Kanawha City and Mary Emma West of Liberty. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
