He is survived by: his children, Melissa Hanson Stroud (Kevin, Heather Hanson) and James Backus; his grandchildren, Josh, Jorden and Cody; and his brothers, William "Billy" Hanson (Wilma Lee) of Durham, NC, David Hanson (Pat) of Archers Lodge, NC and John Hanson (Joyce) of Haiti. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces.
