He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Surface and Winifred Surface; his siblings, Clyde Surface and Nora Tucker; and his niece Carla Radcliffe.
He is survived by: his wife Edna Surface; his sons, David (Sandy) of Charleston, Alan (Stefanie) of Charleston and Dwayne Radcliffe of Charleston; his grandchildren, Megan Henning, Wesley Radcliffe, Davy Surface and Jordan Lynn Surface; and his siblings, Lonnie Surface and Shirley Haddox. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his little dog and buddy.
