He was predeceased by: his wife Bonnie; his parents, Ransom Blackwell and Ola Blackwell; and his siblings, Madlyn Grace Douglas, Sue Nida, Jack Blackwell, Jim Blackwell and Patricia Woodrum.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly Dawn Douglas (Eric) and Benjamin H. Blackwell II (Kerri); and his grandchildren, Katlin Jordan (Logan Reed), Benjamin III and Brady Blackwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benjamin H. Blackwell Scholarship at the University of Charleston, 2300 MacCorkle Avenue, SE, Charleston, WV 25304.
