It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Hyre Schoonover of Elkins, West Virginia, born in Montrose, West Virginia, who passed away on October 30, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lula Mae Hyre Schoonover and Leslie C. Schoonover; his wife Virginia Lee Harper; his sister Madge Andrews; and his brother-in-law William A. Andrews.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Ellen Schoonover Durham of Montrose, William R. Schoonover (Donna) of Elkins and James L. Schoonover (Patricia) of Montrose; his grandchildren, Richard W. Schoonover (Carrie), Thomas R. Schoonover (Kristin), William R. Schoonover, Jr. (Juanita), Amy L. Schoonover and Susan A. Mumper (Aaron); and his great grandchildren, Alexandra, Abigail, Maxwell, Tessa, Samuel Schoonover, Leah and Layla Mumper.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers friends should make a contribution to their favorite charity in memory of Mr. Schoonover.
