He was predeceased by: his parents, John James and Eula Jane Knotts (Stemple); and his siblings, Charles Knotts, Rachel Monda, Mildred Moreland and Viola Gentry.

He is survived by: his wife Thelma "Jean" Knotts (Abernathy); and his son Clifford "Barry" Knotts (Nina) of Elk Garden. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home ~ Keyser Chapel (85 S Main St, Keyser, WV 26726). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
