He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Richards and Ida Merritt Richards; and his siblings, Donnie Merritt, Harry Merritt, Bernard Merritt, Mary Lou Isaacs and Minnie Levering.
He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Richards; his children, Gary Richards of East Lynn and Connie Richards (W. Va) of Huntington; and his brother James Merritt. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
