He was predeceased by: his parents, Tolbert Adkins and Mary Mae Adkins; his son Darin; his brother Ronnie Adkins; his brother-in-law Charles May; and his nephew Allen May.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Adkins; his sons, Scott Adkins (Kim) of Huntington, W. V and Kevin Adkins (Jenny) of East Lynn; his grandchildren, Tyler, Aaron, Natalie, Sarah, Brianna and Ruthie; his great grandchildren, Brenden and Adelynn; his sisters, Izetta May and Sue Gilkerson (Sam); and his sister-in-law Myrtle Adkins.
