With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Gene Strickland of Dunbar, West Virginia, born in Elkview, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 16, 2024 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Strickland and Betty Strickland; and his sister Pansy Smith. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Strickland of Dunbar; his siblings, Joyce Huffman of Charleston, Ann Burdette of Charleston, Betty Jane Spangler of Kenton, OH, Judy Kennedy of Clendenin, Cathy Moles of Elkview and Cecil Strickland (Wilma) of Elkview; his son Christopher Strickland (Amber) of Princeton; his stepchildren, Pamela Shirk (Les) of Ft. Myers, FL and Jerry Johnson of Charleston; his grandchildren, Kailey Kanode, Davian Strickland, Tyler Strickland, Jonathan Shirk (Shey) and David Shirk (Alissa); and his great grandchildren, Skye Shirk and Abigail Shirk. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many friends.
