He is survived by: his wife Leona Whetzel (Judy); his children, Bonnie Bland (Rodney) of Upper Tract, WV and Lindsey Whetzel (Wendy) of Rough Run, WV; and his siblings, Grace Crites (Virgil) of Petersburg, WV, Elsie Keplinger of Dorcas, WV, Nellie Iman of Petersburg, WV, Johnny Whetzel (Norma) of Circleville, WV and Glenn Whetzel (Shirlene) of Dorcas, WV. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; a step grandchild; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
