He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Henry Slaughter and Myrtle Smith Slaughter; and his sister Evelyn Macon. He is survived by: his wife Laural Judd Slaughter; his children, Michael Slaughter of Hedgesville, WV, Eva James of Harpers Ferry, WV and Angela Dawson of Martinsburg, WV; and his siblings, Danny Slaughter of Orange, TX, Jerry Slaughter of Campti, LA, Shirley Manuel of Orange, TX, Vicki, Patricia Perot of Campti, LA and Audrey Delahoussaye of Roswell, N. M. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
