He is survived by: his wife Sherry Jarrell Bender; his children, Kermit Lee Bender (Shawnacy) of Yawkey, WV, Doug Bender (Sydney Manns) of Alum Creek and Teresa Green; his stepchildren, Heather Workman of Warrenton, VA and Jamie Cox of Jacksonville; his brothers, Vernon Bender (Donna) of Foster and Clarence Bender (Clara) of Foster, WV; and his siblings-in-law, Jane Jarrell of Madison, Diana Bender of Chapmanville, Gloria Bender of Big Ugly, Billie M. Bender of Prenter and Ronald Porter of West Hamlin, WV. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
