It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carl Stephen Smarr in Danville, West Virginia, born in West Union, West Virginia, who passed away on October 16, 2020, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Phoenix and Clara Sinnett Smarr; and his siblings, Jack, Bud, Delmas, Dorothy and Wilmadean.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Thorn (Thorn); his children, Corey of South Charleston, David (Crystal) of South Charleston and Kerry of South Charleston; his grandchildren, Jarron Paxton and Clayton Smarr; his close friend Stan Ratliff; and his siblings, Opal Smith, Sharon Walker (Ronnie Burns), Juanita Burriss (Loran Smokey) and Floyd Jr. (Sarah). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and cousins, scores of close friends.
A post-Covid celebration of Steve's life will be announced at a later date.
