We are sad to announce that on December 10, 2024, at the age of 91, Gladys Minnie Akers of Daniels, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Gladys farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Gladys is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jasper Allen Brinegar and Lora Amelia Brinegar (Williams); and her husband Hobert Berkley Akers. She is survived by: her children, Allen Akers (Mitzi) of Shady Spring, WV, Barry Akers (Barbara) of Cool Ridge, WV, Kevin Akers of Daniels, WV, Sandra Willis (Frank) of Daniels, WV and Andrea Thomas of Daniels, WV; and her sister Cecilia Gail Martin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center (1200 Harper Rd, Beckley, WV 25801). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens (5250 Robert C Byrd Dr, Mt Hope, WV 25801).
