It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Ray Chester of Danese, West Virginia, born in Herndon, West Virginia, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Chester and Alice Graham Chester; his stepmother Nettie; his former wife Phyllis Brown Chester; his daughter Katherine Chester Conley; his children-in-law, Roger Conley and Eunice Chester; and his siblings, Kermit Lusk, Ethel, Tressie, Stella and Lakie.
He is survived by: his wife Rachel Shrewsbury Chester; his sons, Reverend Richard Chester (Brenda) and Donald Ray Chester (Connie); and his grandchildren, Missy, Ricki Lynn, Donald Ray Jr. and Tracy. He is also survived by great grandchildren, lots of nieces, nephews and camping friends.
