It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helen Charlene Gray of Cowen, West Virginia, born in Richwood, West Virginia, who passed away on February 7, 2022, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Oris Smith and Mildred Smith (Edwards); her husband William B; her sisters, Betty Kathleen and Elenor Smith; and her son-in-law Mike Ritchie.
She is survived by: her children, Edward Gray (Dana) of Fairmont, Janet Mathes (Mike) of Cowen and Barbara Ritchie of Cowen; her grandchildren, Jacqui Boyce, Amanda Markwardt (Gareth), Laura Snyder, Matt Ritchie (Brittany), Chad Mathes, Ryan Mathes (Jamie), Daryl Lynne Rush (Benjamin) and Alex Gray (Erin); and her siblings, Shirley Michael of Ft. Lupton, CO, Sharon Riding of Cowen, John Smith (Jackie) of Upperglade, Benny Smith of Farmington and Stanley Smith (Debbie) of Upperglade. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlene's memory to Trinity United Methodist Church or West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg.
