He is survived by: his wife Marsha Short; his children, Johnny Short of Cowen and Jennifer Beckner (Richard) of Walton, KY; his siblings, Vic Short, Linda Newhouse and Zeff Carpenter; his grandchildren, Carson Short, Jaymeson Beckner, Cameron Short and Jade Beckner; his great grandchild Landyn Lawson; and his niece Whitney Allen.
