He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lawrence Smith and Nettie Hammack Smith; his siblings, Ernest, Ray, Garol, Nelda Fae, Eloise and Bernice; his wife Linda Tyler Smith; his children, Nita Sue Short, Toni Teresa Winkler, Joseph Daniel Smith and Jeffery Lee Smith; and his brother Gary Smith. He was also cherished by 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
