He was predeceased by: his parents, George Blackwell and Dolly Strickland; his daughter Joyce Ann Monk; and his siblings, Ray Strickland, Doyle Martin, David Martin, Mary, Georgia Hess and Sandy King.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia A. Monk; his children, Melinda Huffman, Michael (Teresa) and Bryan Monk (Lori); and his brothers, Donald and Jackie Martin. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
