He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Bassell and Mary Randall Bassell; his wife Margaret Richards Bassell; and his siblings, Carl Bassell, Chuck Bassell, Jerome Bassell, Isaac Bassell Jr., Alvin Bassell, Dora Mae Jenkins and Susan Bassell.
He is survived by: his children, Kelli Hicks (Michael) of Beverly and James Bassell II of Clarksburg; his grandchildren, Britney, Connie, Harold and Jasmine; his stepdaughter Ronna Righter; his siblings, Frank Bassell, John Bassell, Vickie Bartlett and Debbie Bassel; and his pet Tazz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
