She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Edwin Buell and Irene Gyorko Buell; her husband Walter Powell; her stepfather Charles Pyles; and her siblings, Shirley Hower and Eldon Buell.
She is survived by: her sister Marcia Liburdi of North East, MD; her children, Gary Stroupe (Traci) and Jeanne Brooks (Rich); and her grandchildren, Maegan Harrison (Zach) of Havelock, NC, Jacob Stroupe (Stephanie) of Reston, VA, Amanda Casteen (Zach) of Wallace, NC, Jessica Stroupe of Morgantown, WV and Joshua Brooks of Hartselle, AL. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
