He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry W. Pittenger and Lillian Clark Pittenger; his wife Alice Louise Pittenger; his children, James W. Pittenger and Linda King; and his siblings, Hazel, Jane, Chuck, Harry Jr., Earl and John.

He is survived by: his children, Leonard C. Pittenger Jr., Starr Lynn Pittenger and Jeannie Fisher; and his granddaughters, Candy King, Natalie Hoelz, Sheila Rogers and Jessica Pittenger. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
