He was predeceased by: his grandson Adam. He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, William L. Jr. (Mary), Keith E. (Beverly), Judy L. Stogdon (Mark), Michael G., Daniel P., Donna Allen (Lee) and Lori A. Whitt; and his siblings, Edward Busch and MaryAnn Nelson. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
