Velva Clairess Vanater Obituary

We are sad to announce that on June 16, 2021, at the age of 88, Velva Clairess Vanater (Charleston, West Virginia), born in Hamlin, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Oakey Slone and Bonnie Johnson Slone; her siblings, Leo, Sharrell, Johnson, Chilton, Jerry, Harold Gene, Mildred Wheeler (Lee) and Oakey Dale Slone; and her son-in-law Steve Rogers.

She is survived by: her children, Patricia Skaff (Rick), Lisa Rogers of Charleston and Donald W. Vanater of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Katie Kirk (Curtis) of East Bank, Matthew Vanater (Stephanie) of Riverside, Patrick Vanater of Riverside, Florida and Allison Vanater of Raleigh; and her great grandchildren, Hallie Kirk, Evelyn, Brock Vanater, River, Jack and Ella.

Please be fully aware of the new State and CDC guidelines for wearing a mask when attending services. Unvaccinated persons must wear a mask and social distancing should still be observed by all.
