It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Joan Birch Sothen of Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on June 13, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Maitland Wilson Sothen; her daughter Stashie Ann Sothen; and her mother Stashie Ellen Birch. She is survived by: her son Rick Sothen (Terri) of Goodyear, AZ; her granddaughters, Ruth Musgrave (Jonathan), Joanna Detandt (Nathan) and Aimee Sothen; her great grandchildren, Landon, Kaitlyn and Gavin Detandt; her daughter Becky Sothen Hopkins (Jim) of South Charleston; her grandchildren, Brian Hopkins (Jill) and Sarah Brown (Scott); her great grandchildren, Gannon Michael Morris and Madalyn Elizabeth Morris of Charleston; and her sister Patricia Ellen Birch Walker of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to CAMC Memorial Hospice Care, American Heart Association, or Kanawha County Humane Society.
