He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Russell and Dorothy Parker Stapler; and his sister Deborah High. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Shamblin Stapler; his sons, Rodman Jr. (Alisa) of Charleston and Brian (Shannon) of Peterstown; his sisters, Patricia Shaffer, Susan Titlow and Janet Kirby; and his grandchildren, Joshua, Abigail, Adam, Madaline Stapler, Caleb Alderman, Jonathan and Ailena Bezek. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is mandated by the Governor and the CDC that proper facial coverings be worn and that social distancing be observed.
