It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Neubert Clayton Phillips of Charleston, West Virginia, born in Nemours, West Virginia, who passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Neubert Johnson and Edith Mary Phillips (Butt); his brother Robert Madison Phillips; and his close friend John Bennett. He is survived by: his wife Beulah; his sons, Geoffrey (Lynn) of Monroeville, PA, Edward (Jan) of Morgantown, WV, Michael (Jo) of Ripley, WV and David of Westminster, MD.; his grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan (Ashley), Lilly, Carley, Solomon, Foster, Garrison and Anderson Phillips; his brother Richard Anderson Phillips of Montpelier, VA; his siblings-in-law, Celia Tenney, Wilma Nienke, Evelyn Gower (Pat), Jane Phillips and Wayne Perry; and his friends, Curt, Pat Caldwell and Betty Bennett (John). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He loved the outdoors (especially birds and trees), and valued education highly, so in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to any of the following the Audubon Society or the Arbor Day Foundation or Bluefield State University.
