It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marvel Joan Smith of Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles T. Alloway and Kathinka E. Alloway (Kollman); her siblings, Bradley, Neil Alloway and Carolyn Hayes; and her son-in-law Jay Pottmeyer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joyce Danford (Tom), Marilyn Pottmeyer, Nancy Bauerbach (Brian) and Earlene Watson (Gene); her grandchildren, Hillary, Hunter, Kate Danford, Cole, Tanner Pottmeyer, Johanna McNabb, Daniel, Matthew Bauerbach, Erica Kolassa, Elizabeth Zenker, Kyle Davis and Kelsey Watson; her stepgrandchildren, Erika Eddy, Erin Taylor and Bethany Watson; her siblings, Charles Alloway (Ingrid) and Amanda Merkle; and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stauch and Carolyn Alloway. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home (227 Lock St, Lowell, OH 45744). A celebration of life was held on Friday, October 4th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
