It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlin Edward Bays of Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Trigg Wright (Robert J.) and Dunn Edward Bays. He is survived by: his sons, Chad of Charleston and Craig Bays (Cindy) of Charleston; his grandsons, Jacob, Joshua and Luke Bays; and his sisters, Diane McLemore (Don) of Avon Lake and Trish Cochran (Roger) of Mobile, Alabama. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Stevens & Grass Funeral Home (4203 Salines Dr, Malden, WV 25306). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Clark's Christian Care, 145 Walnut Street, East Bank, West Virginia 25067.

“Marlin, I will miss you. You baptized my son, Larry Loggins. He wanted it to be you.. One thing you can be proud of, you worked to help bring the men Home from the USS Pueblo. The ship was captured in International waters. Larry Kennedy, and you will be together again. He went missing while you were doing your duty. 1968. You told me this when we were waiting on mom to come out of surgery. Thank you for doing this. Thank you being there. It must have been hard Chad and Craig are fine men. Love, Mel”
