He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Durfee Ford; his parents, John Maxwell Ford and Janet Ruth Baumgardner; and his grandson Kenneth Hunter Sinclair. He is survived by: his sister Ruth Ferrell (Vernon) of Logan, WV; his children, Catherine Sinclair (Kenneth) of Grafton, WV and John Ford III of Charleston; his grandchildren, Leslie Helmick (Devan) of Hampton, VA, Megan Wise of Moundsville, WV, Avery Sinclair of Grafton, Stella Sinclair of Grafton and Jacob Wilson of Nitro; and his great grandchildren, Connor and Benjamin Helmick of Hampton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in John's memory to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 36 Norwood Road, Charleston, WV 25314.
