He was predeceased by: his parents, Almira Ballengee McLaughlin and Commissioner of Agriculture; his wife Constance Bailey McLaughlin; and his sisters, Mary Virginia McLaughlin and Elinor McLaughlin.
He is survived by: his children, James Kemp McLaughlin, Jr., Mary Blaine McLaughlin of Charleston and Laura Evans McLaughlin of The Villages, Florida; his grandchildren, James Blaine McLaughlin II of Louisville and Elizabeth McLaughlin Smith of Charleston; and his great grandchildren, Preston Andrew Smith and Bailey Elizabeth Smith of Charleston.
