He is survived by: his wife Milodine Holstein; his son Gary E. Holstein Jr; his wife Stephanie Holstein of Elkview; his sisters, Billie A. Holstein Webb of Roanoke, VA. and Carol F. Holstein of Fayetteville, WV; his sister-in-law Christine Holstein of Swiss, WV.; and also, Millie Holstein, Hall Holstein and David Holstein of Charleston.
