He was predeceased by: his father Charles VanKirk; his wife Jo Ann Hardman VanKirk; his siblings, Elsie Knox, Edith Sayre Durst, Dorothy Crow, Naomi Carmichael, Charles, Robert, Paul Eugene, John Edwin and Donald; and his nephew Richard M. VanKirk (Dick).
He is survived by: his son Charles Mark VanKirk of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister Betty Barth of Parkersburg; and his sister-in-law Sarah Witte of Parkersburg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
