He was predeceased by: his parents, John P. Ashley and Ruth Ashley; his brother Rev. John P. Ashley Jr.; his brother-in-law David Armstead; and his nephew Davey.

He is survived by: his sisters, Betty Jo Armstead and Kathy Payne (Ted); his nieces, Malinda, Alicia, Stephanie and Sabrina; and his nephew Johnny Mac.
