It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elgie Daniel Shumate of Charleston, West Virginia, born in Beckley, West Virginia, who passed away on November 23, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Brisco "Slick" and Eula Mae Tucker Shumate; his wife Billie Jean Shumate; his sister Janet "Polly" Collins (TC); his grandsons, Chad and Brad Shumate; his daughter Melissa Bradley; and his great grandchild Brock Shumate.
He is survived by: his close friend Judy Bradley of Charleston; his brother Doug Shumate (Pat) of Beckley, WV; his children, Greg Shumate (Pam) of Branchland, WV, Mark Shumate of Windermere, FL, Susan Hargett (Tom Jenkins) of Beckley, WV, Karla Long (Scott) of Beckley, WV and Robert Bradley (Jenny); his grandchildren, Dustin Shumate (Sarah), Matt Long (Leigh Ann), Klara Alderman (Mike), Sara Gabbard (Jason), Jon Shumate, Will Shumate, Daniel Shumate, Steven Hargett, James Cantrell, Emily Cantrell, Jennifer Cantrell, Abby Bradley and Andy Anderson; his nephew Mike Collins (Susan); and his niece Janet Childs (Jack).
