He is survived by: his stepparents, Donna Vernati (Larry) of Tad and Dallas Elswick (Katie) of Blount; his brother Kevin Vernati of Tad; his mother Linda Bias; and his cousin Eddie Bias of Tad. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.

Because of DeWayne's love of animals, the family request donations be sent to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311.
