With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Darrell Eugene Hammonds of Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Orbin Hammonds and Sinda Hammonds; his wife Elsie Onne Hammonds; and his siblings, Orbin Jr., Teddy, Iva Lee Short, Mildred Burnett and Yvonne H Brown.
He is survived by: his children, David Hammonds (Barbara) of Hazard, KY and Theresa Hammonds Johnson (Marty) of Charleston, WV; his granddaughters, Mary Rachel Hammonds (Alan) of Charleston, WV, Marjorie Hammonds of Newport and Tate Hammonds Johnson of Charleston, WV; his stepgrandson Derek Lewis (Brittany) of London, KY; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Athena Lewis and Alexander Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
