He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Lee and Marie Louisa Benton; his wife Peggy; his siblings, Leroy, John Benton and Catherine Benton of Texas; his son Rick; his daughter-in-law Charlotte Wheeler; and his son Randy Wheeler.
He is survived by: his children, Claudia Lewis (Larry George) of St Albans, Kathy Means (Jimmy), Paul Wheeler of Charleston and Ivan "Mutt" Wheeler (Joanna) of Charleston. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
