He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Lou Tate; his son Michael Andrew Tate; and his parents, Richard Tate and Arleen Tate. He is survived by: his son Terry Tate (Beth Satterfield-Tate); his grandchildren, Jared Tate and Meghan Tate; and his siblings, Ray Tate (Donna), Robert Tate, Roberta Tate-Bowyer and Sharon Tate Keller. He is also survived by several Nieces and Nephews.
