She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Whittaker and Mary Adkins Whittaker; her husband Opie E. Smith, Sr.; her sisters, Linda Ferrell and Elizabeth Kelly; and her brother-in-law George Ferrell, Sr..
She is survived by: her sons, Opie E. Smith, Jr. of Charleston and William L. Smith of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Kim Swiney (Ben) of Clendenin, Opie E. Smith, III (Devan) of Charleston and Xavier Blackledge; her great grandchildren, Sophie, Madi, Zach, Gracie, Ella and Athena; her siblings, Denver Whittaker (Susie), Vicki Starcher and Nikla Hardman; her nephew Opie Lee Kelly; and her son Zane Blackledge (Lauren). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
