He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmo Williams Johnson and Bernard Thomas Johnson of Charleston, WV.; and his former wife Patricia Hutton Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Karen Peters Johnson; his daughter Terri Buckley Goldsmith (Stan) of Charleston, WV; and his grandsons, Bryce and Chase Goldsmith of Charleston.
