He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gainer and Lottie Gainer. He is survived by: his siblings, Pamela Metzker (Gorden) of Flat Rock, NC and James Gainer Jr. (Peggy) of Wardensville, WV.; his wife Virginia "Ginny" Gainer; his children, Joe Gainer Jr. (Dwayne) and Sherri Lagana (Bobby); his grandchildren, Cameron Gainer, Alexis Gainer, Samantha Lagana and Jessi Lagana; and his great grandchildren, Parker and Ariana Painter.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home (256 Halltown Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425).
