She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Barber and Charlotte Kennedy Barber; her husband Merle Hess; her sons, Monty Dean and Gregory Burkett; and her son-in-law Ronald Chapman.
She is survived by: her children, Angela Fraley (Curtis) of Charles Town, Penny Gibson of Charles Town and Jimmy Burkett of Martinsburg; and her siblings, Delores White and Donnie Barber. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
