Steele and Maude Godbey Steele; his wife Barbara Dingess Steele; his son William "Bill" Steele; his grandson James Patrick Steele; and his siblings, Harl, Carl, Paul, Frank, Fred, Charles, Robert "Bobby", Lillian Steele Chapman, Doris Steele Stollings and Nina Steele Elkins.

He is survived by: his daughter Alisa Steele; his granddaughter Blake Thompson; and his great grandchildren, Frankie Lynn James, L. J. Steele and Allison Steele.
