He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Wells and Juanita Peyton Wells; his wife Hilda Wells; his son Joseph Wells; and his siblings, Jack Wells and Bonnie Riddle.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen A. Wells (Leslie) and Patty Friley (Gary); his grandchildren, Mallory Watts (Jeremy), Anthony Wells (Nicole), Maria Heck (Caleb), Steven Friley, Zachary Wells, Chris Wells, Kerri Castle (Cory), Courtney Spaulding and Clayton Crabtree (Jessie); his great grandchildren, Fiona, Emmy, Rhett Watts, Claire Heck, Josiah Castle and Chloe Crabtree; his sister-in-law Sally Wells; and his nieces, Jennifer Browning, Sherry Boling, Wendy Griffith and Tonya Zimmerman.
